Diamondbacks at Dodgers, 7:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA, FS-A
The D-Backs send out RHP Shelby Miller, who has disappointed them this season. He and Greinke were the two big acquisitions the team made to bolster their pitching staff last offseason, and Miller’s 2-10, 6.81 ERA record is not at all what management had in mind when they got him. He’ll face another righty, Ross Stripling (3-6, 4.16 ERA). The Dodgers’ expectations of him were not highly publicized at the start of the year. He’s had trouble recently: he’s winless in his last four starts and has an 5.09 ERA over that period, but the Dodgers haven’t hit much behind him.

Huzzah!
18 games over 500 for first time this year.
51-40 before the All-Star break.
27-20 after the All-Star break.
We’re no longer the team with the least wins among the division leaders. We have one more win than the leaders in the AL East now.
We win!
Woo-HOO!!!!!!
KK-enley!
What a great strike three pitch to Goldie. Movement on it was incredible.
A thing of beauty to be sure. Goldie just walked back to the dugout!
K-enley!
Uno mas!
Okay, KJ. Bring it on home, to quote Winnipeg Dave.
Jansen in. Glad he had the night off yesterday. Keeps him fresh for today and if necessary tomorrow.
Vinnie just mentioned Jon Weisman! Oh, joy!
Neat! What’d he say?
He quoted Jon’s blog about Stripling potentially winning the game with only 66 pitches, and talked about other efficient pitching games. Gave Jon credit at the end of it.
Vin’s graciousness is only one of the numerous reasons he’s soo beloved.
So, Stripling did well, and efficiently?
Yes and yes — one inning took just 5 pitches, including a K!
Wow. That’s good news.
Finally getting to watch! Looks like all the excitement happened early on. Let’s win this one, guys.
Bring it on home RBI. 🙂

Blanton did well pitching around the walk.
I can do with some “uneventful” innings — when the opposition is batting, that is!
I could do with a 1-2-3 ninth from Kenley or, even better, a bigger lead so Kenley needn’t pitch.
Got it — tho that fly-out sounded scary!
Not as scary with Vinnie calling it.
Vin will never Steiner you.
One more reason this is all bittersweet.
Get the K or double play!
Thank you Toles! Glad that AZ didn’t pull closer and make it 5-3.
Especially since production has frozen for LA.
Close play at first but Pollock was out.
Glad they left Miller in. AGon leads off with a double.
11 hits already
Colorado lost.
Talk about efficiency, Stripling at only 67 pitches over 5.
Dodgers are efficient with their hits-to-runs, but AZ is even more efficient!
I guess we will have to be satisfied with total production over efficiency.
Works for me!
Nice inning . . . and bittersweet — Vin is now off the radio and the time to enjoy him is dwindling . . . but always treasured.
Keep it going, keep it going
The Gnats have exploded for six hits tonight, but only two runs.
Unfortunately, that’s enough to tie CO . . . and SF is threatening for more.
Let’s bake a cake!
Justin has really ratchet up his defense (good for WAR 1.0 so far this year).
Wow that was a fast half inning. 5 pitches – all strikes, 3 outs including 1 k!
I have really enjoyed these games of late. Yes the wins, of course, but it’s always wonderful seeing the new and/or young players playing well. Urias, JDL, Toles, Hill and of course Seager have made for some great viewing. Yesterday when the top 5 hr hitters for the Dodgers all hit hrs – that seemed very special as well.
Pollock got a room service bounce off the wall and Segura really winged it home to nail Josh.
Give ’em credit – they played it extremely well.
Reddick continues to smack the ball and now they are landing untouched.
That’s a revoltin’ development. I thought he was too hurt to come back this season!
Nothing personal, but regarding Link’s first sentence of this post, I hope Miller disappoints for at least one game more.
We face them half-a-dozen more times, so let’s say we hope Miller is cause for disappointment for the rest of the season when the D-Backs play the Dodgers. Let him revert to last year’s form if he pitches against the Giants.
Much better prescription!
