Dodgers at Phillies, 4:05PM PT, TV: SPNLA, CSN-P
Veteran Scott Kazmir (9-6, 4.44 ERA) pitches for the Dodgers and rookie Jake Thompson (1-1, 8.68 ERA) goes for the Phillies. Kazmir’s last start was a quality one in which he took the loss; he left with two men on and the bullpen gave up a home run to score them. This will be Thompson’s third big league start; in his first one he went 4 1/3 innings against the Padres and gave up seven runs, and in his second he went five innings and gave up three runs.

The Gnats are gnow in the rearview mirror, stranded on the roadside with four flats.
Woo-HOO!!!
Yabba-dabba doo!
We win.
lets put the icing on the cake here
Done. Buttercream frosting on spice cake okay with you?
you are making me hungry, its almost lunchtime here 🙂
Joc now up to .259 on the season.
Love this new found offense.
AGon!
When it rains it pours!
A-Gone may get to 20 HRs yet.
Yes!
its the great escape today several times
Well done, Dayton!
Come on, Dayton.
Got the job done!
Nobody hit a ball hard off him, but cautious base-coaching kept the Phils from scoring at least one.
Drat it, Kazmir.
Phew
Kazmir does not inspire confidence.
Seems to have lost it.
Well, he got away with it – this time, at least.
A five-inning wonder.
Here’s some Grant:
He really makes losing completely hilarious.
Maybe the Dodgers could try to score a run the conventional way too.
JT!!
JT! Loving this offense.
Ding dong!
Beautiful swing by Gonzo. Maybe he heard me say last night that I didn’t think he would get to 20 HR’s.
I think historically his power has shown itself in spurts. So it is not that much of a long shot for him to reach 20 at least.
Hey Bob. I not trying to be obstinate here. I wonder though if historically most hitters hit their home runs in spurts. They get hot for a week or three where they are seeing the ball well. And then they tail of for a while before cycling back to hot.
Believe Jon had a post on this earlier in the year. Agon tends to the extreme and hits them in bunches.
I can’t wait to read Grant’s Gnat game recap. Schadenfreude can be fun.
He has been on fire.
Grant’s at his best when the Gnats are losing.
It is a doozy. I hope tapeworms do not make you squimish.
Pirates need a triple play in the ninth.
Hurdle over-using his closer.
DP works out giants lose.
The Gnats have a good chance of watching the playoffs from their living rooms.
I still do not get Reddick hitting so high in the lineup.
Because he’s good hitter, perhaps?
