Dodgers at Brewers, 5:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA, FSWI, MLBN (free game)
Brock Stewart started the season in Class A (Advanced) with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. During his rise to AAA the 24-year-old righthander has compiled a 1.47 ERA and a 99:14 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 14 starts. He’ll be opposed by 31-year-old rookie Junior Guerra, who’s 4-1 with a 3.67 ERA. He faced the Dodgers in LA and had the worst start of his season in which he gave up five runs on five hits but came away with a no-decision.
Here’s a stat which may surprise:
Coming into the series, both teams ranked in the top three for percent of wins via comeback this season. With 19 out of 34 (56 percent), the Brewers ranked second, and the Dodgers were right behind, winning 23 of their 42 games (55 percent) via a comeback.

Puig’s OK but…https://twitter.com/McCulloughTimes/status/748551390205616129
Giants outhit the As 8-6 but out-errored them 3-0 and lost 7-1.
I hadn’t realized that Mac Williamson was such a human highlight reel. He’s become my favorite Gnat.
Game’s actually at 8:00AM my time, 11:00AM for you West Coasters.
In other news, Gnats down 7-0. Which probably means nothing.
Tomorrow’s an early game, too. 10:00AM PT, 7:00AM my time.
Ugh. Not a pleasant night.
There is no joy in Mudville.
What’s the antonym for Woo-HOO
Hoo-boy?
Boo-HOO.
I think the Giants may have just experienced a triple play. Never mind. I am wrong. Gameday was hinky.
Against them I hope.
Yes.
Maybe their bullpen will dissolve. Or something.
I’ve lowered my expectations to wanting this not to be a shut out.
Oh brother. Puig limping now, like the team…
I’m still mad at Braun for beating Kemp out for MVP. Might be time to let that go. (As he hits a HR)

Thanks for that article. I am not alone!
And another bloop single.
Hatcher is warming up. Those bloops could get some length soon.
Prescient.
Looking at our starters’ batting averages, where Seager is the only one over .275, it’s almost a wonder we’ve won as many games as we have.
Twice that many with .8+ OPS though.
Of course, one of those can’t put his shirt on or apply deodorant by himself.
4 out of 5 innings were shutout innings.
Remember when Yeager used to make lamps out of broken bats?
One of the hundreds of things I wonder about is why catchers have stopped using that throat flap that Yeager invented.
Not our night, so far.
Stewart can’t catch a break. Every bloop and bleeder… Until then! DP again.
Anyone else understand why the ump booted AGon?
Grumbling about the checked-swing third strike, or possibly the pitch before that that was called a strike.
But since when does grumbling mean you get yanked?
Balls and strikes are not arguable, or at least not very much.
What was frustrating is he grumbled once, but the second time he wasn’t even talking to the 3rd base ump.
As Agon was walking back to the dugout he made a dismissive gesture toward the 3rd base umpire with a flick of his wrist. Sometimes it doesn’t bother us when we get the FU, but won’t take being dismissed.
Ah, I must have missed that. Makes sense.
We are down to one bench player. And Junior appears to be pitching way out of his league.
Wow, that is absolutely absurd. Adrian got the hook for what, exactly?!?!?
Get the DP, Stewart.
Or that.
He did get the DP.
True.
I’m surprised the Brewers’ record isn’t better. Their lineup is much stronger than ours.
Pitching (ignore this game)
Yeah, I figured.
They have a run differential of -0.9. Dodgers are at +0.4.
Regarding Joc, https://twitter.com/alannarizzo/status/748281701730656256
He took a pretty hard hit.
Got them right were we want them. Dodgers have the easier path for a comeback win!
The fact that this post makes me feel better is sad. But thanks anyway!
Let’s get a few back now, guys.
Promising beginning now discouraging.
From fooling them to batting practice.
Kid needed the breaks, but didn’t get them.
They also started to hit the ball hard, though.
DP please
Bad luck on two pitches, and then a bad pitch.
Yeah. Said to be a fly ball pitcher, but dingers against him in the minors had been scarce.
First returns looking good.
Quique to the 15 day DL.
That came out of nowhere, but it could be at least a partial explanation for his prolonged slump. Having acquired Chris Taylor, the Dodgers now have another legitimate backup SS.
Meanwhile, it sounds as if Joc is pretty sore.
Where did you read about Joc? i haven’t seen anything except he is day to day.
Not sure about how DL placements are scrutinized or if the league and teams worry about how or when it is used so if its no big thing as to its use, I think the Dodgers put Kike’ on the DL so he doesn’t have to take a cut in pay or lose any time served benefits toward retirement instead of sending him to OK.
He can groove his swing in AZ and maybe even add first base to his game. He needed time to get his game together like Puig did. I don’t think he is hurt.
“Left rib cage inflammation.” Monday and Kennedy had no prior knowledge of the “injury” either.
I’m eager to see a pitcher who’s risen so rapidly this season, after being utterly unheralded.
Read where his father, a scout for the Pads downplayed his son’s potential. He is now a Dodger scout.
