Game 78, 2016

Dodgers at Pirates, 9:35AM PT, TV: SPNLA, ROOT Sports, MLBN (out-of-market only)

The Dodgers ask Scott Kazmir (5-3, 4.52 ERA) to stop their slide before it gets worse. His last start was a quality one in which he gave up only two runs to the Nats in six innings. The Pirates ask Francisco Liriano (4-7, 5.17 ERA) to stop his personal slide during which he’s gotten no wins in his last five starts and walked 19 batters during that stretch.

Expect Adrian González to sit this one out as per this word from Dave Roberts on Sunday.

Lineup: somebody post it in the comments when it turns up. I am NOT getting up at dawn to watch this game.

  1. I am going to stick my neck out and predict that Stewart will pith like an ace. I just have a gut feeling. Most know I am a big Joc fan but I have not made any predictions that he would be great. I hope Joc will be great. I think Stewart will be great.

Stewart is ranked at the Dodgers 26th best prospect. His tools are:
    Scouting grades: Fastball: 60 | Slider: 45 | Changeup: 55 | Control: 50 | Overall: 45

  2. I came out of my cave and see that the often maligned bullpen was almost perfect: 4 innings, 0 runs, 1 hit, 6 strikeouts, 2 walks. A four-game sweep by the Bucs would have been devastating.

  3. And now Kazmir seems to be settling down well. But almost without exception there’s that bad inning, or three, that sets us on our heels…

  4. Because I realize that I am likely to break Rules of the Road 7 and 8 repeatedly today, I am bowing out of this conversation, perhaps for the rest of the game.
