Nationals at Dodgers, 7:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA, MASN
The Nats send Tanner Roark (6-4, 3.14 ERA) out to make his first-ever start against the Dodgers, who counter with Scott Kazmir (5-3, 4.64 ERA). It’s a matchup of differing pitchers: Roark has made it through six innings in 11 of his 14 starts, while Kazmir hasn’t made it past the fifth inning in any of his three starts since May 31.
The Dodgers want to extend their four-game winning streak while the Nationals want to halt their three-game losing streak.
As expected, the Dodgers have activated Yasiel Puig from the 15-day DL and have optioned Carlos Frias back to OKC.
Also, Vinnie is taking the night off to rest his sore throat.
Lineup:
Utley 2B
Seager SS
Turner 3B
González 1B
Kendrick LF
Pederson CF
Puig RF
Grandal C

Boy, for those of you who are lucky enough to listen to Vin, last night had to have been bitter sweet. I get my Vin fix by watching video clips of each game.
At least Steiner didn’t butcher last night’s home run call, the way he usually does.
He really underplayed it off the bat, however.
Well, at least he didn’t call it a foul straight back. The bar’s set pretty low for him.
Nice win, team! This is the 12th game in a row the Dodgers have hit a home run. The last time they did that was 2002.
wow, that’s a nice surprise. The last time I checked in, it was the middle of the 8th 🙂
Glad you like it! Just a little something special the Dodgers worked out for you.
Five straight wins for the first time this season.
Seven games over .500 for the first time this season.
Very nice.
Unfortunately, the cursed Giants walloped the Buccos.
We win!
If we go with Jansen in the 9th that will be his third straight day in relief — for the first time this season — as well as his sixth appearance in the last eight days.
He hasn’t thrown many pitches, though.
Good point. And Jansen was dealing tonight.
Only 12 pitches tonight, seven the other day. I expect he won’t go at all tomorrow, though.
Uncharacteristically, no K’s tonight.
Three ground balls, one hit hard on one bounce, to Seager at short.
Gotta love this crazy game. I’m back east, and need to sleep. Hold on, guys.
We’ll do our best!
Grandal with the very well timed home run! Roark left in a little too long. Thank you Dusty!
Well, I’ll be….
Grandal!!!! So due!
So Roark has thrown under 70 pitches in six innings? Whither hath our offense gone?
Venable is not such an impressive pinch hitter.
Kazmir having trouble with the long ball tonight. No shame in giving up the home run to Harper but Espinosa’s I could have done without.
Dodgers looking for a starter in mid twentys, a reliever, and a bat. Starters they say could be available are A’s Gray and Braves Teheran. Article said Puig could be part of a trade.https://mail.google.com/mail/ca/u/0/#trash/15575d9d7aa4e82f
That’s in private email.

I would take either of those pitchers – depending on cost of players heading out.
Gray’s been really shaky lately, while Teherán’s been excellent.
Might be able to get Gray a little cheaper then. And still time for him to rebound – unless you think he is not going to be as good anymore.
The question is whether he’ll rebound in the short term. Teherán’s been very consistent all year.
Thanks.
Gnats up 15-3, over the Pirates. Bottom of the ninth coming up. Yikes.
The Bucs can only lose one game tonight, and they did us all a favor by beating BadGums last night.
Maybe you gotta be Kershaw to beat Harper all the time.
Two up, two down, too good to be true.
Gnats’ Peevy falls victim to a faith scammer: http://www.sfgate.com/giants/article/Giants-Peavy-defrauded-of-millions-in-8316324.php
It’s unfortunate that someone played on Peavy’s and 2 others commitment to their faith to scam them. Clearly that person has issues.
There are lots of faith scammers around. Most of them scam little people; this guy got lucky with Peevy.
Frustrating when you are taken advantage of simply because you desire to help people.
Faith scammers target truly gullible people.
It’s not gullible to care for others and in general trust people. As I said it’s unfortunate when people are so frustrated with those who believe in caring and helping others that they have to scam them.
I re-read the article you posted and it is clear the athletes were targeted because of their Christian faith. Sad.
Sad, but not surprising.
Not surprising that they were targeted because of their faith? That’s sad too!
Not surprising because such people lack the capacity for critical thought, and are thus inherently vulnerable to the scammers that infest every such institution. This is the rule, and there are no exceptions.
Ha ha ha ha. You made me chuckle. Obviously that’s not true and so I’m winking at you and this. “Such people.” That’s such good satire of Trump and others. Well done.
It’s 100 percent true. Trump is just the latest cynical scammer to seek support by targeting people of “faith.”
