Game 28, 2016

Dodgers at Rays, 4:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA

Alex Wood (1-2, 4.82 ERA) goes against Drew Smyly (1-3, 2.60 ERA). The two lefties are both coming off good starts their last times out.

Manager Roberts says we should expect to see Justin Turner at DH and someone other than Pederson in CF. He thinks Smyly’s rising fast ball might be tough on the young lefthanded hitter.

Lineup when available.

  1. Just when think the back end of the Gnats’ rotation can’t get any worse…

Please, Bochy, continue to run Peavy and Gnatt Cain out there every fifth day.

  2. I am guessing that when we get some of our injured pitchers back, Wood may be out of a starting position.

      • While they pile up over the course of a season the difference between the better hitting teams and the worse is one more hit per game with the range basically between 8 and 9 in the NL.

        • It was not an impressive performance. Still very poor with runners in scoring position.

          • Sure, but they scored 10 runs in 2 games, the same amount that they scored in the previous six.

    • As they say, if you are a good pitcher it is better to be consistent. if you are not a good pitcher, it’s better to be inconsistent.

    • In contrast, Baez has given up 3 dingers this season and one tonight (so far).

  3. Smyly bounced. Didn’t realize that he had accumulated so many pitches.

    • Wood, by contrast, has been pretty efficient – except for the dingers.

  4. Just awoke from a nap to see that Peevy got clubbed again, and the Dodgers can retake first place this evening.

  5. Guessing that Chase gets a start with Quique in LF and Kendrick at third (saves Howie from running on astro turf in the outfield and takes advantage of his greater experience as infielder on said surface. As Link noted a few threads ago, missing SVS.
