Game 14, 2016

But first, Vin Scully reads a grocery list. Yep, someone sent the Sunday Night Baseball crew an audiotape of Vin reading just that back in the 1970s, and they played it during a tribute they offered to him during the third inning of tonight’s game.

Dodgers at Braves, 4:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA, FSSO

Alex Wood (1-1, 4.50 ERA) goes for the Dodgers against some guy named TBD. It will probably be Julio Teheran (0-2, 6.35 ERA, 17 innings, 9 BB, 14 Ks). This will be Wood’s first appearance at Turner Field since he was traded to the Dodgers last July for Hector Olivera, Paco Rodriguez and minor-leaguer Zachary Bird. Olivera has played five games in left field for the Braves this season and Rodriguez will miss the entire year after Tommy John surgery.

Lineup when available.

  1. Missed this one completely, but doesn’t look like I missed much! I am out again tonight. I’m counting on our boys in blue to win Game 15.

    • The errors didn’t help, but he came up short a couple of times, including walking the number 8 batter.

      • Then again, if we are only scoring 1 run, even Clayton might have a hard time winning this game.

  2. Well – I’m off again. Our family is going out for ice cream with the neighbours.

  3. Also – can we swap Maeda and Kazmir – and Stripling and Wood in the rotation?

  4. Wow. The Dodgers are not on their game tonight. Just realized that they had no hits until this inning.

  5. Francoeur didn’t strike out? Right now no video at all – Gameday and Steiner (what a birthday gift).

    • Mine is in and out here at the beach in Oaxaca (mostly because my wife stream Spanish (telenovelas, I suspect)

      • We sometimes get outages when there’s a storm, but it’s calm and dry at the moment.

  6. Fellow named Willams Perez out there. 25 year old right hander from Venezuela. 0-0 with ERA 7.00 (9 innings)

    • My parents used to do the Cha-cha-cha, but it’s might fault that I never made it to the Bigs.

      • Maybe if they’d known the samba, you could have made the path easier for Yan Gomes and Paulo Orlando.

    • When I visited München in 1970, the grounds where Leni Riefenstahl filmed the Nazi rallies in “Triumph of the Will” had several baseball fields.

  7. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Matty Kemp moved in the next couple of months, probably to a DH-rich environment, if the Pads eat some of his salary.

  8. Olivera’s probably going to miss quite a bit more time, because of his domestic violence issues.
