Reds at Dodgers, 6:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA
I don’t know why the early start time, but there it is. Tune in an hour ahead of the usual, folks.
The Dodgers will face a lefty for the second day in a row as the Reds send out David Holmberg, who’s 1-1 with a 3.06 ERA this season (3-3, 4.38 in his short career). Brett Anderson will be his opponent. He is coming off one of his worst outings all year: he gave up ten hits, seven runs and three walks to the Nats on Monday. For the season, though, Anderson is 6-7 with a 3.43 ERA. He hasn’t gotten much run support recently: the Dodgers have scored all of 16 runs in his last six starts.
Lineup when available.
Tonight's #Dodgers lineup:
Rollins SS
Hernandez 2B
Gonzalez 1B
Turner 3B
Puig RF
Crawford LF
Ellis C
Pederson CF
Anderson P #whiff

Today in Dodger trivia, so to speak:
Hernández
“Kiké is the first Dodger who had played multiple infield and outfield positions with the club to break a second inning tie with the first 3-run home run of his major league career in a home victory against the Reds during which multiple teammates also homered to power a starter to his seventh win in his first year with the Dodgers since Tommy Buckshot Brown on 15 July 1949. Rookie Don Newcombe was the winner in that game with Hall-of-Famers Jackie Robinson and Roy Campanella also contributing home runs.” by GWilson Aug 15, 2015 9:07 PM
Just realized that the last 2 weddings I have been to, the Dodgers have won by a combined score of 25-3. 17-0 last Sept vs the Giants plus tonight’s 8-3 victory. Apparently I need to go to more weddings.
Definitely if they make the playoffs!
Not only attend, but officiate!
Peevy implodes in the sixth, but Gnats still lead Nats 9-5 with two out and a runner on third.
Woo-HOO!!!
Yabba dabba doo!
We win!

And wasn’t one of the posts from Dodgers Digest or TrueBlueLA talking about Joc’s decreasing exit velocity?
While CC had some great years with the Rays, his OPS+ in his three years with the Dodgers is higher than that of his 9 years with TB (He is well paid).
He’s missed a lot of time, though.
Crawford is really seeing the ball well.
Super since he has been back.
Good game so far.
Just logging in from the wedding to say go Dodgers. Nice to see them winning!
Weird game so far.
Getting more weird.
Good weird.
Quique for Gordon was the steal of the year.
Coming in Quique had an OPS+ 140 in 156 PA. Dee has come back to earth and has an 110 in 446 PA.
Dee’s still a good player, but Quique has far more upside.
Has the inside track to be our 2nd baseman next year (if Kendrick is not back).
I would think so, but Peraza’s in the mix too.
Indeed. (Thought Quique has shown he can hit big league pitching, with OPS+ 125 in 100 games)
This year, I’d like to see Kendrick back. Deeper roster with him.
He’s (Gordon) hitting .327, which is the stat that gets noticed. Kendrick, by the way, has taken over the team lead from A-Gon. Howie’s at .296 while Adrian is at .293.
If Ned had his way, Quique would be in Philly and Utley would be hitting behind Rollins tonight: https://twitter.com/Dodgers/status/632655972641562624
Five or six years ago I’d have been quite happy to have that DP combination.
Rollins has a little more left than Utley, and the Dodgers didn’t give up much to get him. Quique, meanwhile, has been a real find.
Oh, yeah, I don’t want Utley now. But he was excellent once. So was Scott Rolen before the injuries got to him.
Apparently, this is one of the nights they show a film after the game – “Back to the Future,” I believe. Hope it doesn’t go 20 innings.
Reply to Link, LAT’d, re GWilson…
Couple more I had saved:
From Dre’s recent 2 HR game–
” Andre is the first corner outfielder to lead the Dodgers to their fourth straight win following a shutout loss at home by twice breaking ties with home runs from the cleanup spot since the great Jackie Robinson on 17 July 1953.” by GWilson Aug 3, 2015 | 1:40 AM

Puig and Anderson
” The last time that a Dodger starter was staked to a lead with a 3-run home run with two outs in the visiting first and proceeded to earn a victory, after the club had lost his previous two starts, by allowing only a third-inning run over a six-inning effort in a game in which the Dodgers scored their fourth and final run in the fifth after their switch-hitting leadoff man reached to start the frame was 16 July 1956. Gil Hodges supplied the big home run in that game with Roger Craig getting the win.” by GWilson Aug 5, 2015 | 7:30 PM

When it counts most
“Dodger left-handers have allowed .436/.489/.564 against their 47 left-handed batters faced in the seventh or later in high-leverage in 2015. The other 29 teams have allowed a combined .229/.307/.323 for this split. ” by GWilson Aug 10, 2015 | 12:06 PM
Last one might account for some pen struggles in a way no one else has noticed.
May have more but maybe approaching the eyes-glazed-over level.
