Game 85, 2015

Phillies at Dodgers, 7:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA

Chad Billingsley continues his comeback after nearly two years spent recovering from elbow surgeries. He’s pitched in four games so far this season for the Phillies, compiling an 0-2 record with a 7.71 ERA over 21 innings. He’ll face Brett Anderson, who’s on a bit of a roll. He’s given up only one run in each of his last three starts and won all of them. At 5-4 with a 3.00 ERA in 16 starts and 96 innings, this has been the most work Anderson’s been able to do in a season since 2010.

Lineup when available.

  1. Package, you forgot one of the first things we learned at school: If you have a sore arm or whatever, don’t let the other kids find out about it. Wearing your heart on your sleeve, your feelings about Grandal and now Tsao, is giving more ammunition to one person on this board who will now have twice as many ways to nettle you. Find his weakness and strike back.

  2. Would imagine that Bills at some point may have been considered as a possibility for the 5th slot in the rotation, but FO decided not to chance it and that there was less risk going with a younger Anderson also coming off of an injury (back as opposed to Bills’ elbow) with more recent success.

    • And Kersh and Greinke going the next two games. We got this.
      Maybe.
      Hopefully.

  3. I can’t believe it is the top of the 8th already. If this was last night, the Dodgers would still have another 4 or 5 innings to come back.

  4. What – which team is in last place and which team is in first place? Which team has a starting pitcher with a 7+ ERA and which one has a ERA of 3?
Sometimes baseball is just too dumb.

  5. Not looking too good for us so far. And I’m sitting close enough to feel every error and GIDP.

  6. Dodgers playing down to the level of the Phillies thus far in the series.

  7. Not your typical error. Turner saved a run or two just by getting to it.

  8. Well, I’m a lucky girl. My son was just given great seats to tonight’s game, so I’m wrapping up work for the day and heading out there again. This time, I’m taking my mitt. Hopefully it will end in under four hours, but either way, I’m excited.

    • Okay I’m definitely jelly to hear that! But I know you will have a wonderful time at the game with your son. Root, root, root for the home team.

      • Oh and just curious where you are sitting? And what is the weather tonight in LA? Shirtsleeve weather or does it cool off a far bit in the evenings?

    • I agree. Obviously hoping he doesn’t win tonight but perhaps if the Dodgers could win something like 3-1 or 4-1 – with some of those runs coming after Bills is pinch hit for in the top of the 7th – that would be great.
