Game 69, 2015

Giants at Dodgers, 4:15PM PT, TV: SPNLA, MLBN

The Giants have won 8 of the 10 games between the two teams so far this season. They’ll ask Tim Hudson, 4-6 with a 4.65 ERA, to keep the mastery going. The Dodgers are hoping their bats will come alive and they’re hoping that Carlos Frias, 4-4 with a 4.14 ERA, can stop the Giants.

Lineup when available.

Game 68, 2015

Giants at Dodgers, 7:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA

The Giants send out Chris Heston, one start removed from a no-hitter on July 9 against the Mets. He’s 6-5 with a 3.76 ERA on the season. He’ll face Mike Bolsinger of the Dodgers, who’s 4-1 with a 2.25 ERA (4-0, 1.01 ERA at home).

Lineup when available.

Joc and Yasiel flipped. Here’s why.

Game 67, 2015

Rangers at Dodgers, 7:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA, FSSW

Zack Greinke (5-2, 1.95 ERA) is asked once again to stop a Dodgers’ losing streak, this time a three-game one to the Texas Rangers. The Rangers will send out Anthony Ranaudo, who’s only made one (unsuccessful) MLB start this season back in April. He’s been down at AAA Round Rock of the PCL, where he’s compiled a 7-1 record and a 2.45 ERA in eleven starts in 2015.

Lineup when available.

Game 66, 2015

Rangers at Dodgers, 7:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA, MLBN, FSSW

It’s a battle of lefties. Clayton Kershaw (5-3, 3.21 ERA) starts against the Rangers, the team he grew up following. The team from Texas counters with Wandy Rodriguez (3-2, 3.03 ERA). This will be Kershaw’s first time pitching against the Rangers, while Rodriguez has a 5-5 record with a 2.64 ERA in 12 career starts against the Dodgers as an Astro and a Pirate.

The Dodgers activated Scott Van Slyke from the DL and placed Chris Hatcher on it with a shoulder strain.

Lineup:

Joc Pederson gets a rest, as does André Ethier.

Game 65, 2015

Dodgers at Rangers, 5:05PM PT, TV: SPNLA, FSSW

The Dodgers hope Brett Anderson goes longer and does better than he did in his last start, when he went only five innings and gave up consecutive home runs to the Diamondbacks’ Paul Goldschmidt and Yasmani Tomas. He’s 2-4 with a 3.57 ERA. The Rangers send out rookie Chi Chi Gonzalez, who’s 2-1 in his first three major league starts with a 0.42 ERA and is holding hitters to a .176 batting average.

Lineup when available.

Game 64, 2015

Dodgers at Rangers, 5:05PM PT, TV: SPNLA, FSSW

Carlos Frias goes for the Dodgers while Yovani Gallardo goes for the Rangers. Frias is 4-3 with a 3.86 ERA and has had three quality starts in a row. Gallardo is 5-6 with a 3.45 ERA but 2-1 with a 2.70 ERA in his last five starts.

In case you’re wondering (I was), Rangers Ballpark in Arlington got a new name as of last season, when an insurance company paid $5 million a year for the rights to call the place Globe Life Park.

Lineup:

Hmm. A-Gon gets a day off from fielding and Callaspo is at 3rd base. Guerrero seems to be Mattingly’s go-to pinch-hitter these days, which suits me but probably not Alex.

Game 63, 2015

Dodgers at Padres, 1:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA, FSSD

Mike Bolsinger brings his 4-1 record and his 2.08 ERA out on the road, where his ERA is 3.78. He’s going to try to get the better of James Shields, who’s unbeaten at 7-0 with a 3.79 ERA. Shields has made three career starts against the Dodgers and has never lost to them.

Howie Kendrick and Jimmie Rollins have both had success against Shields in the past, each hitting a cool .500 in 32 and 14 ABS, respectively.

Lineup (From ESPN; the Dodgers haven’t tweeted it yet).

J. Pederson, CF
Y. Puig, RF
A. Gonzalez, 1B
H. Kendrick, 2B
Y. Grandal, C
A. Ethier, LF
J. Rollins, SS
A. Callaspo, 3B
M. Bolsinger, P

Game 62, 2015

Dodgers at Padres, 7:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA, FSSD, MLB (free game)

Zack Greinke is really hard on the NL West in general and the Padres in particular.

He’s 22-2 with a 2.06 ERA against division rivals since joining the Dodgers, and 5-1 against San Diego. His only decision against the Padres this year is a win and he’s allowed them two runs in 20 2/3 innings.

He starts today against Ian Kennedy, who is 0-2 with an 8.71 ERA against the Dodgers this year and 5-9 in his career with a 4.50 ERA. Overall, Greinke is 5-1 with a 1.92 ERA this season and Kennedy is 3-5 with a 6.48 ERA.

Okay, on paper the Dodgers should win. That’s why they play the games, as Chris Berman used to say about some NFL mismatch.

Lineup when available.

Game 61,2015

Dodgers at Padres, 7:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA, FSSD

Clayton Kershaw v. Odrisamer Despaigne. Kershaw is 5-3 with a 3.36 ERA and on a roll: in his last three starts he’s given up two runs over 22 innings. Despaigne is 3-4 with a 4.72 ERA and has been susceptible to the home run ball (8 in 12 starts); he’s also averaged over 13 hits allowed per nine innings in his last seven outings.

The Dodgers are 6-3 against the Padres this season, which is good. They’re 10-15 on the road this season, which is not.

We may get in-game reports (if Petco Park has Wi-Fi) from Bob_in_Vegas, who discovered his scheduled trip to San Diego coincided with the Dodgers’ games there.

Late news: Hector Olivera has been promoted to OKC. The Dodgers acquired Ronald Torreyes from Toronto for cash and DFA’d Darwin Barney to make room on the 40-man roster for him.

Lineup when available.

Game 60, 2015

Diamondbacks at Dodgers, 7:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA

The Dodgers send Brett Anderson out to find his third win. He deserves better than he’s gotten from his teammates: he’s 2-4 with a 3.29 ERA, but he’s only given up more than three runs once in eleven starts. Run support has been missing.

His opponent will be Jeremy Hellickson, who’s 4-3 with a 4.88 ERA. That’s a little misleading: his last four outings have been quality starts and he’s won three of them.

The Dodgers have beaten the D-Backs eight straight.

Lineup:

Turner’s knee must still be hurting.
