Game 65, 2015

Dodgers at Rangers, 5:05PM PT, TV: SPNLA, FSSW

The Dodgers hope Brett Anderson goes longer and does better than he did in his last start, when he went only five innings and gave up consecutive home runs to the Diamondbacks’ Paul Goldschmidt and Yasmani Tomas. He’s 2-4 with a 3.57 ERA. The Rangers send out rookie Chi Chi Gonzalez, who’s 2-1 in his first three major league starts with a 0.42 ERA and is holding hitters to a .176 batting average.

Lineup when available.

  1. Doesn’t look like anyone here has any more enthusiasm for this game than I do. I wouldn’t be surprised if the players felt the same way. “Let’s call the whole thing off”….

  2. This espionage thing with Houston and St. Louis is just the tip of the iceberg. baseball is too competitive a business for this to be an isolated case. I think if the FBI sweeps hard enough, they will find more dirt in other places.

    • I had no problem — wanted to verify my fact below about the anemic offense.
CORRECTION: After I wrote this, I tried and I AM having problems! Maybe they’re embarrassed and don’t want to communicate with anyone.

  3. still raining here at school, lunchtime with kids in, not great news on the game

    • Too bad the game wasn’t rained out . . . instead of the offense raining on our parade . . . AGAIN (4 games in a row scoring 2 runs or less in “regulation”).

      • That appears to be the case. Donnie says that they are swinging at pitches out of the strike zone.

        • This is something new??? Besides, who knows what the strike zone is? It changes with every umpire, every game, even between pitches. It’s a farce.

          • Not clear what Donnie is getting at. In this game at least against Gonzalez there were only 4 swinging strikes (whether in the zone or not), whereas Anderson got 8. (Zach got 17 in his last start and Klayton 22!).

  4. Ugh. I literally got in from a hike and turned on the game as the Rangers were doing a victory dance. Should I watch it?

  5. Baseball question for the rules experts: (The game sure doesn’t furnish excitement) Puig is on first and Agon singles deep to right. (If it stays in the park, it’s a single for Agon). Puig rounds second and slides headfirst into third. The bag tears loose and he and the bag end up 5 feet outside the foul line. The third baseman tags him; is he out?

  6. Big storm approaching Texas, so we’ll see if they get the game in. Rox and ‘Stros are now playing, but Houston businesses are sending their workers home early.

      • In the end, there may not be any lineup, but will there be flight delays? If so, presumably for both teams.

          • Brutal? Weather Underground says it’s going to be 111 Saturday here in SoNev…

          • Meant the travel andlack of days off, but that sure seems brutal. Here in DC the heat index (which factors in humidity) reached 103 at noon. At the same time SoNev checked in at 94, but that was mid morning for yawl.
