Game 146, 2014

Padres at Dodgers, 7:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA, FSSD

The Dodgers send Dan Haren out to do battle with Ian Kennedy. Haren’s 12-10 with a 4.17 ERA and has had three consecutive good starts. Kennedy has already made five starts against the Dodgers this year, going 0-2 with a 3.90 ERA. He’s 10-12 with a 3.75 ERA overall this season.

The Padres have beaten the Dodgers three of their last five meetings, which is not what you’d expect in games between the first-place and third-place teams in the division.

The Diamondbacks play the Giants tonight at AT&T Park in San Francisco. Josh Collmenter goes for the D-Backs and Ryan Vogelsong goes for the Giants.

Lineup:

Huh. No Gordon. Just resting, I hope.

John_from_Aus linked to this article at Dodgers.com in the comments to the last post. It’s a discussion of Puig’s slumping bat. Is it just a slump or could he be injured?

    • Yankees didn’t want him after a year with 21 HRs . . . that would be 2nd on the Dodgers this year, right? Tho I’m hoping Matt gives A-gon a run for the lead.

  1. I guess we can’t expect Arizona to do anymore against the Giants that it did against us. Still, a D’Back win tomorrow would be wonderful.

  2. When it was 1-0 . . . then 2-0, it was still scary since I’m not sure if Dan is over his Haran-itis.

He has REALLY turned the corner, the CC of the pitching staff.

  3. Nice to see a defensive replacement make a nice defensive play. (At least when they’re part of the Blue.)

  4. And of course Puig is coming up at the most inopportune times for his slump. (But isn’t that the way it always is?)

  5. C’mon, Andre — put some pressure on Puig for the OF spot!
    (Then C’mon, Puig and respond!)

  6. Can’t ask for a better outing than Dan has given!
He may be the first in-season winner of the Uribear Redeemed Player of the Year . . . great high, then terrible low, now climbing out of it.
Good for him . . . good for the Dodgers, especially with limited offense.

  7. After 6 innings on defense, at least one of the three areas of the game (pitching, hitting, defense) is quality.

    C’mon, bats!

  8. This is their 3rd time around and the offense is repeating last night and too many other games this season: much ado about nothing.

I know Kennedy is good . . . but they make too many pitchers look good.

Worse, if they make the playoffs, they will basically be seeing ONLY legitimately good pitchers.

Still, they ARE leading, so continue to Go, Blue!

    • He’s walking a tightrope . . . sure would be nice if his teammates supported him — with some runs and defense.

  9. Dang — at least with his first AB he was robbed.

Didn’t realize it was the dreaded bases-loaded situation. This is getting absurd.

Looks like Dan’s gonna havta have another really good game.

  10. At least it wasn’t a DP.
C’mon, Yasiel — hit it like the first time and break out of this!
