Game 43, 2014

Dodgers at Diamondbacks, 6:40PM PT, TV: SPNLA

Zack Greinke brings his 6-1 record and his 2.38 ERA to the mound for the Dodgers against the D-Backs’ Wade Miley and his 3-3 record with a 4.82 ERA.

The Dodgers have won 7 of 8 previous meetings this season, but the D-Backs have been playing much better than they did during those earlier series. They’ve won eight of their last thirteen games and three of their last four series. The Dodgers, on the other hand, have lost six of their last ten games and have fallen five games behind the Giants in the NL West standings. On the brighter side, the Dodgers are 13-7 on the road this season.

  1. Is there ANY lingering question who Wade Miley’s nightmares feature?

    “Scott Van Slyke continued his ownership of Miley with a solo homer in the sixth. Van
    Slyke is now 6-for-9 with three doubles and three homers against the left-hander this season”

    • The current definition says: see Frank Howard versus Bob Hendley (in 47 PA 1.471 OPS and 8 dingers). May need to be updated with SVS – Miley.

      • Didn’t Howard hit one of the longest HRs ever, 500-something feet?
        ==================
        Edit: Dodgers Digest says SVS’ shot last night went 454 feet, eclipsing Puig’s blast in Miami for longest Dodger dinger this year.

  2. More signs of maturation — last year I jokingly commented about Dee and Puig having a collision because of the way they both go after a ball. At least on this play, Dee was aware/smart enough to back off.

  3. Hopefully being on the basepath doesn’t tax Zack . . . shut ’em down here!

  4. I’m fine with improvement by the Dbags, only so long as they take it out on the Rocks and Gnats.
