Rockies at Dodgers, 7:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA
The Rockies send out right-handed Jordan Lyles (3-0, 3.04 ERA) to start against the Dodgers’ right-hander Josh Beckett (0-0, 2.57). Lyles has only started once at Dodger Stadium, in 2011. He was shelled, giving up seven runs on seven hits including three home runs in 5 1/3 innings.
The Dodgers are 5-7 at home overall and 3-4 on this home stand. The Phillies came in under .500 at 8 – 10 and left even at 11 -11. The Rockies come in at 12 – 11 and one game behind the Dodgers. The Dodgers need to win two of three just to break even on this home stand.

Notice that Crawford is hitting sixth. Here’s Mattingly’s reasoning.
NPUT
Should have played whole season in Australia 🙂
Oh sure. Be selfish. 😉
Not loving this slump.
Too little, too late. If not for playing Arizona, this team would REALLY be in a hole.
Into second place we go.
Okay Uribear, make some magic.
Well, well!
That’s two!
Never say die!
Why do I keep watching?!
…. 🙂
I like Donny Ballgame….
…
The way this club is playing, they’re going to get him fired… and, it’s really the players’ fault…
…
With one notable exception… Anybody who fields Brandon League should be fired…
Is it Donny?.. or is it Donny (c/o- Ned) ??? 🙂
My vote is the latter….
Well done, Dee!
Good grief.
Well, we sure have this formula down pat.
Just started watching last inning. Sorry about that.
We take no offense . . . because we have no offense.
Now that is funny.
. . . if it wasn’t so sad!
My contribution to the rules committee? After each inning of xtras move the fences in ten feet.
Looked it up. Konerko is a part-timer this year.
As always…. there’s Angel Hernandez taking off his mask for maximum face time.
No extras — let’s win it here!
Beckett is definitely on the list of Dodger bright spots this year. . . . If only that list would include more players!
Get the K!
I don’t think the White Sox are missing Konerko, 1st baseman Abreu just hit a walk off grand slam with 2 outs against Tampa
Is Konerko hurt?
Not sure, did he retire?
Fed can join Dee for bunting drills after the game
Both Fed and AJ have more IBBs that SFs in their careers.
wasted opportunity
Cargo fooled everyone on that.
He was listening to Steiner…
Make a note of it: Cargo’s Christmas gift = Thomas Guide….. 🙂
I know who will be practising his bunting skills
Just saw video of Feds lineout, so near yet so far
He scorched it, but Arenado made a fine play.
Puig cashes him in.
Nice Puig
Dee double!
grounded to 2nd baseman for a double – how?
Guy swiped at the ball and stopped it, but then overan it by about ten feet.
Thanks
Also, great baserunning, had it judged perfectly.
Ouch (at least they were both only solo shots)
now we start again
Nothing like getting your eye in first
Puig!
Kershaw’s making his first rehab start in Rancho Cucamonga this evening.
Nice article on Guerrero and Doc.

Interesting, yeah. Persuasive? Well, maybe. I don’t think Gordon’s as bad defensively as the author makes him out to be, and he’s hitting like crazy right now. I think this may be a case of liking the farmhands better than the big leaguers just because. I remember thinking Mike Marshall (the outfielder) and Greg Brock were going to be HUGE stars. Nope.
I wouldn’t put Guerrero in that category, given his experience. Dee platoons with Turner now, the Dodgers would be better if he platooned with Guerrero and Turner was the utility guy.
I think Dee’s significantly better at 2B than at SS, where he constantly threw the ball away.
I think that is the part that has been the nicest surprise with him
Gordon’s slightly below replacement level, if you believe the math. Two errors and a fielding percentage of .976, if you just go with the old-time stats.
I was surprised to see a graphic the other night that had Dre 6th on the LA Dodger RBI list with 600. He is 16th on the all-time list, only 8 behind Oyster Burns.
