After yesterday’s heroics, we’ll see who has what left in the tank.
The first game today is Game Five between the Orioles and Yankees at 5:00PM Eastern on TBS. It’s a rematch between Game One starters Jason Hammel of the Os and C.C. Sabathia of the Yankees. However, Alex Rodriguez has been benched and Eric Chavez will start at third, so expect minutes of airtime to be wasted discussing that. It’s pretty clear that A-Rod hasn’t been hitting; he’s got nine strikeouts in sixteen at-bats. If it weren’t for the fact that he’s A-Rod with his $29M-per-season salary this would be of no news value at all.
The second game is Game Five between the Nationals and the Cardinals. The Game One starters are back for this game as well: Gio Gonzalez for the Nats and Adam Wainright for the Cards. The game starts at 8:30PM Eastern on TBS.
that 27th out is always the hardest
Good lord, what a disaster. Up 6 – 0 after three innings and lose the game to four runs in the ninth. The Nationals’ closer should have been pulled. Instead his name goes in the books with Niedenfuer, Broxton, Stan Williams and Ed Roebuck, and even Ralph Branca.
Oh blast the Yankees anyhow. Tip your hat to Sabathia, but man, the Os couldn’t hit a lick in this entire series (neither could the Yankees much, but just enough).
Old friend Werth has a post-season OPS of .970 in 201 PA with 14 dingers. Dang.
And yet he will have the same view of the NLCS as his “old friends”
Ha! Beltran’s post-season OPS of 1.306 trumps. 13 dingers in 129 PA.
That photo above is ripe for Photoshopping, and here’s a compilation of some of the best.
Since my sole remaining desire in these playoffs is to see the G’nats and Yankees vanished, I’m torn on who to root for in the Washington / St. Louis series.
I’m going Washington, but I think either will beat the Gnats.
I agree with you, I’m definately going for the Orioles today
I want a Beltway Series for the first time ever, so I’m on board for the Os and the Nats. I went to high school in the DC suburbs a million years ago; those are my secondary “home” teams.
I’d be more than happy with that series
I’d like that myself. The fans were so hyped up at the Weds game I went to at Nats Park that they were cheering and booing foul balls.
Not looking too good for another game this year at Camden right now.
