There may be more serious forms of insanity, but surely having your entire kitchen floor replaced with new vinyl on the day after Thanksgiving is right up there.
It occurred to us yesterday that we'd completely forgotten what day of the year it was when we scheduled this job. Think about it: the refrigerator, newly groaning with leftover Turkey Day fixings, must be moved out of its niche and a new location found; all the breakfast room furniture must be moved into the dining room, which means the dining table (with its extra leaf and padding) must be shoved to one side; and meal preparation can't be done on kitchen counters either on Friday or Saturday.
What the hell were we thinking?

(Have I mentioned that next week I have to 1-go to an out of town conference 2-supervise a whole troop of Brownies (24! plus 5 Daisies) as they get a Try-It badge, and 3-run a program at the local nursing home? And that these events are on the same day? And not only the same day, but 2 and 3 are at the same time? Just so you don't think I'm unsympathetic to your plight.)
Any chance of renting a minifridge to stick in the living room for the duration?

We have a small fridge. I may have to carve all the meat completely off the carcass in order to fit leftover bird (we buy the complete dinner from Safeway, so it's about 10 lbs.) into the little reefer, but it's hopefully doable.
Posted by: Linkmeister at November 21, 2007 12:04 PMWell, she's going to be 7 in a couple of weeks, so not really a toddler anymore. But active, yes indeed!
Can your sister take some home? Or do you have a cooler? If you line it with newspaper, put the food in cold, put newspaper over the top of the food and then close it tightly, stuff keeps a long time.
Posted by: Juli Thompson at November 21, 2007 06:40 PMYou fool! Well, grab some good time on Thanksgiving anyway.
Posted by: Serge at November 22, 2007 04:18 AMUm ... you weren't? (thinking, that is.) At lest not with a calendar handy.
Happy T-giving.
Posted by: shelley at November 22, 2007 06:53 AMHey, at least all you have to get in the fridge is turkey. It's better now, but on T-Day our fridge was full, not only of bird and fixins (well, it was a chicken, but it weighed 6 lb.), but of half a shelf of brown paper bags of tulip bulbs. Which had been there since September. This is how you grow tulips (which like to think they have been through a winter) in California where the ground never freezes. The gardener (my other half) has planted about half of them now...
