If you're still dissenting, you're in good company; Abe Lincoln was denouncing the Mexican War as it took place. Other than that, the article is a chronicle of the "tyranny of the majority." Of course, if you dissent, you may be subject to more abusive wiretapping. The Supreme Court decided today, by the way, that that wiretapping is fine with them.
Posted by Linkmeister at March 24, 2003 12:13 PMIf they decide to wiretap me, they shall here interesting stories about my mother-in-law...
Posted by: toxiclabrat at March 24, 2003 01:00 PMI would not be surprised to discover they are tapping my phone. Our phone service is spotty and clicky and all of that.
Posted by: Ezrael at March 24, 2003 01:13 PMYeah, Toxic, I do all my conspiring on the Internet; my phone conversations are pretty banal.
Ez, I don't wan't to disabuse you of the thought, but you do live in a place with a pretty inclement climate, and rain does weird things to electrical wires.
Posted by: Linkmeister at March 24, 2003 01:33 PMLiving in the DC area, I always suspect that we're being listened to. Rumor has it that FBI cadets at Occoquan regularly listen in on the conversations of people driving by in their cars. It's part of their training.
I've never met an FBI cadet to ask them, but it seems entirely likely that they do some sort of practice like this.
If they wanted to wait around for me to talk on the phone, they're welcome. I rarely do, and when I do, it's pretty damn boring. I should try dropping some Echelon target words the next time I'm on the phone...
Posted by: bunny at March 25, 2003 03:27 AMI meant Quantico, of course, which is located in the Occoquon area.
Posted by: bunny at March 25, 2003 03:28 AMHeh...maybe it IS good that I'm not a phone person! ;o)
What I really don't like about this war is that it is like the Vietnam Era and the McCarthy Era all rolled up into one huge mess.
